The approximately 1 hour-long meander along the river, flanked by indigenous Breede River Yellowwood and Wild Olive trees teeming with a variety of bird species, sets the scene for a leisurely riverside experience. Fill your picnic basket to the brim with sumptuous fare from our deli, add a bottle or two of Viljoensdrift’s fine wines and enjoy your picnic during your trip down the river. The 50 minute river cruise comes at a mere R80 for adults, including wine tasting prior to departure, and R20 for children between 3 and 12 years. The boat departs daily at various times depending on reservations. Minimum of 6 adults required per cruise
Thereafter there will be trips hourly depending on bookings. Advanced bookings essential. Check-in 45 mins. prior to departure.
We do not allow guests to bring their own food or beverages to the estate, so everything needs to be purchased in our self-help deli.

We loved our River Cruise experience. Being upstairs on the Upper Deck was lovely! Everything was relaxed and low-key. All super. Just a suggestion for new guests: on arrival at Viljoensdrift, it's not very clear exactly where one needs to go to check in for the cruise. I first went to the Deli and was then told to go to the Bar area. Had to spend a while waiting around before being attended to. On boarding the boat , nobody checked our tickets or made sure that the guests who had booked the upper deck were correctly allocated to go upstairs. The finer details for an overall enjoyable experience are in the 'small things'. - Beverley

This was such a nice experience doing the river cruise on the Breede River. The goodies in the deli as well as the wine tasting was really well priced. There was someone performing at the restaurant and the live music really added to our enjoyment of our pizza under the trees after we did the cruise. This excursion was real value for money and the staff were all so friendly. I highly recommend Viljoensdrift and the River Cruise. - Chantelle
